Project Management Methodology: A Critical Tool for Project Success
Industry: Financial & Professional Services
This financial services firm is known globally for its
electronic transaction processing services. Their project
office was faced with increasing demands from senior
management to accept financial accountability for strategic
cross-functional projects. Staffing constraints and the lack
of a project management (PM) methodology made it difficult
to comply.
Critical Issues
- Complex projects
- Interdependencies between projects and functional
departments
- Duplicate work and poor department handoffs
- New technology
Solution/Results
Novations was selected to develop a PM methodology for
implementation enterprise-wide that would integrate with
the client's current software and application
development processes. To ensure application and user
buy-in organization wide, the approach started with the
analysis of PM requirements for each group within the
company and a review of current processes and PM
documentation. Further feedback was gathered from key
leaders of each group.
The final solution offered a standardized and scaleable
process for integrating critical requirements from each
department and incorporated project management best
practices. The methodology was applied throughout the
organization to address the critical issues and improve
project outcomes. Given the success of this implementation,
the company continues to partner with Novations to address
their strategic cross-functional project needs.
